Smalltalk in Silverlight – Virtual Desktop Test

This is a initial test of the Smalltalk “virtual desktop” running inside a Firefox browser.

It was built with the Silverlight libraries and should be able to run in IE or Firefox browsers with the Silverlight 1.1 Alpha plugin installed. My testing is limited to Windows XP and Vista but, AFIK, it should run on Macintosh as well.

Silverlight’s ”CoreClr” libraries have *far fewer* control classes than the standard WPF libraries, and that means creating the necessary controls in C# – this is what consumes my time at the moment.

The goal is to produce a complete development environment with no dependencies on Visual Studio or other external tools. Workspace windows should be ready in a couple of days and that will let me begin some Smalltalk/DLR testing.

There is probably another week of work before I can post some alpha-level code.
